In California, an outside salesperson is not owed overtime. But that only applies if the employee has properly been classified as an outside salesperson. So, who qualifies as an “outside salesperson?” One who is customarily and regularly works more than half of his working time away from the employer’s place of business selling products or obtaining orders or contracts for products, services or use of facilities is an outside salesperson.
